FAQs

Here are common questions asked by parents. We hope these can answer some of your initial queries, if not, please contact us for further information.

Do you have a minimum attendance policy?

A: Although we do not have a minimum attendance policy, we do recommend that a child attends a minimum of 2 shorter sessions per week (2 nursery day sessions) in order to fully benefit of the educational programmes available. Also, children tend to settle quicker when the gap between the sessions attended is not too big.

What ratios do you have in place?

A: For babies under the age of 2 is 1:3, 2-3 years old 1:4 and 3years old and over 1:8

Are you offering settling in sessions and can parents come along too?

A: Yes, as part of our registration process we offer 2 settling in sessions: first one is for one hour and the parents are welcome to stay; the second session is 2 hours, and we recommend the parents do not stay for the whole session as the child will need to get used to being left without them.

Will nursery staff be wearing masks?

A: Currently all staff members are required to wear a face covering when meeting and greeting parents in the communal areas. Department for Education however doesn’t recommend that practitioners wear face coverings when around young children (under the age of 5) as this is detrimental to their learning and development (children cannot see and learn about facial expressions, they cannot notice spoken language etc).

What’s included on the monthly fees?

A: Fees are inclusive of meals and snacks, nappies, wipes, creams and sun cream. Children in receipt of FEEE funding will be charged meal and clubs fees.

Do you offer funded place?

A: 2 year funding is only offered for looked after or adopted children. 3 year funding is offered for all children the term after their third birthday. Please check FEEE terms and conditions or speak with the Nursery Manager.

How can I pay the invoice?

A: We accept most payment options, including BACS and standing order. In addition we accept most childcare vouchers and the new tax free government scheme.

Can I receive notifications about my child’s time at the Nursery?

A: Yes you can! Through the app ‘Parentzone’ you will receive notifications about your child’s time at Little Owls. Parentzone allows you to view future sessions, invoices (bill payers only), timeline and gallery. We will send you a Registration link for easy access.

Do you offer ad-hoc sessions or emergency childcare?

A: We offer ad-hoc sessions in addition to the regular booking pattern, based on occupancy levels, please give the Nursery sufficient notice to avoid disappointment. Emergency childcare is available too based on occupancy levels.
